NZ'S FIRST WORLD WAR CENTENARY 2014–2019

5000 Poppies NZ

Help us to make a crafty display of 5000 poppies for Anzac Day 2015.

Anzac Day 2015 will mark 100 years since New Zealand’s involvement in the First World War, commemorating 100 years since the Anzac Gallipoli landing.

As part of the 2015 Anzac Commemoration, the 5000 Poppies Project (NZ) will be creating a wall of more than 5000 poppies as a stunning visual tribute to New Zealand servicemen and women.  The 5000+ poppies will be displayed at the Air Force Museum in Christchurch from February - July 2015.

We would love for you to be involved. So we are inviting all crafters or anyone who wants to give it a go to participate in this meaningful and heartfelt project. If you would like to join, you can hand make one or more poppies. They can be crocheted, knitted, felted or sewn from any materials. Any shade of red can be used and poppies should be 10-14cm in diameter. Patterns can be found on the website below. Feel free to get creative.

If you would like to go to the 5000poppies.wordpress.com website for more details you can. Also you can join us on Facebook under 5000 Poppies NZ. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have about this project.

Once poppies are made you can send them to:
