Appointment of Director, First World War Centenary Programme

We're very pleased to welcome Andrew Matheson as the Director of WW100, New Zealand’s First World War Centenary Programme.
Andrew comes to the Ministry for Culture and Heritage (which houses the WW100 Programme Office) from a diplomatic career that included postings as Director of the New Zealand Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamyan, Afghanistan; Ambassador to the Philippines; and as Deputy Head of Mission at the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing, China.
Before joining the New Zealand foreign service he worked in public policy, science information and agricultural development — in the public and private sectors, in New Zealand and internationally. He holds postgraduate qualifications in public policy, business administration and biological sciences.
Andrew Matheson commenced his role with us on 04 March 2013.
