To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, Kāpiti Coast District Libraries’ second annual poetry contest – If You’re a Poet We Want to Know It – welcomed poets of all ages to submit poems with the theme of “War & Peace”. Poets were invited to freely interpret this theme – i.e., the poem could refer to a time, a place, a person, a feeling, the concept of war and peace, the First World War itself, or be inspired by poets of the First World War era.

Included in this anthology is every submission the library received, a total of 85 poems, in each of three age groups: Children – age 6-12; Teens – age 13-18; Adults age 19 and older.
