100 years of trenches blog

A blog which focuses partly on the memoirs and books written by New Zealanders such as O E Burton, Robin Hyde, John A Lee and Archibald Baxter.

A personal project. I focus partly on NZ memoirs, and partly on more general political concerns. I use critical and politically conscious methods to analyse the current trends within Anzac-related discourse. I believe that we have a rich heritage of critical perspectives which deserve a much greater amount of prominence.
I provide links to a number of Marxist and pacifist oriented sites, I do movie reviews and write more general politically oriented opinion pieces. Underlying these critical projects are the texts which I consider most valuable for an authentic engagement with New Zealand's Anzac history, particularly Robin Hyde's Passport to Hell, Archibald Baxter's We Will Not Cease, and O E Burton's Silent Division.
