A New Zealand memorial and garden at the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917 in Zonnebeke, Belgium will be unveiled on 12 October 2017, the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele.

The only remaining artefact commemorating the people of Kuaotunu who gave their lives during this war, it is important to restore and preserve it it in honour of their memory for generations to come.

To commemorate the centenary, on 25 April 1915, of the Anzac landings at Gallipoli, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and NZ Post teamed up to mint a commemorative 50 cent coin.
