An interactive digital installation that will fill Pukeahu with messages of peace, hope and remembrance on the Armistice centenary, 11 November 2018. Messages go live on 1 November 2018.

The Armistice Beacon is a five-metre high interactive digital installation which will be a dynamic feature of the Armistice Centenary commemorations at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park on Sunday 11 November 2018.
The cylinder of screens will display a continuous stream of messages submitted by New Zealanders around the world by text message or online. It will broadcast their posts of hope, peace and remembrance, connecting New Zealanders everywhere with the Armistice Centenary National Ceremony in Wellington. These messages will be archived as a record of New Zealanders’ perspectives on Armistice at the time of its centenary.
The Armistice Beacon will also form the service numbers of New Zealand’s First World War servicemen and women into tukutuku patterns, reflecting the honoured whakapapa.
