The Government organised a series of public events at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park in Wellington on 11 November 2018 to commemorate the Armistice Centenary. A National Ceremony was held at Pukeahu beginning at 10.45am. Later in the day, at 7.30pm, New Zealand Defence Force conducted a Sunset Ceremony which included the final daily Last Post Ceremony of the First World War Centenary.
Both the National Ceremony and the Sunset Ceremony were live-streamed on the WW100 Facebook page.
The National Ceremony remembered the service and sacrifices endured by those who fought, and those who stayed behind. It also sought to celebrate peace, and recapture the jubilation and hopefulness that would have swept many parts of the world at that time.
