The ANZAC Hall Club Society Inc., Featherston, is producing four calendars as a limited edition over the period of the First World War. The first calendar is for 18 months commencing July 2014.
Calendars for 2016, 2017 and 2018 will be for 12 months. A total of 59 illustrations will be used drawn from photographs, newspaper articles, personal letters and diaries. The images used will keep to the historical timeline of the war as far as can be possible. The intention of this project is to show the causes, course and consequences of the war. Without understanding this we cannot understand the world today.
The ANZAC Hall Club was built in Featherston in 1916 to provide recreational amenities for the 60,000 soldiers who trained at the Featherston Military Camp from 24 January 1916 to Armistice Day 1918.
