Digital community resource in Buller

Creating a digital community resource to preserve stories surrounding the impact of the First World War on the Buller district.

The focus of this project will be to source material which relates to the effect of the First World War upon the communities of the Buller – from Karamea in the north through to Westport and Reefton and including the smaller communities such as Granity, Ngakawau, Seddonville, Hector and Inangahua.
This material will be digitised using the resources available at the Westport Public Library and it will then form a part of a series of stories to be created within the West Coast Kete. This will allow permanent online access to the material for anyone interested in the Buller and also serves to preserve these increasingly precious documents.
We would envisage that the material we would be working with will include diaries, letters and official documents although we are excited to see what else will appear.
