Display of photos, stories, artwork commemorating the centenary of Gallipoli

A display organised by the Wellington Southern Bays Historical Society and four local primary schools. The display will be held in the Island Bay Community Centre from 28 April to 2 May 2015.

Island Bay Band Rotunda War Memorial

This display is organised by the Wellington Southern Bays Historical Society in partnership with four local primary schools - Island Bay, Owhiro Bay, St Francis de Sales and Houghton Bay School.
The photos and documents held by the Historical Society and the children's contributions will make connections between local places e.g The Band Rotunda, Arras Tunnel, Ataturk Memorial, and objects e.g the Island Bay Memorial school bell, a carillon bell donated by a local family in memory of their son who died in the First World War, Boards of Honour, etc. with the aim of letting children know and reminding the rest of the community about the significance of these objects and places.
