The Otago Settlers Association in conjunction with Toitū Otago Settlers Museum are producing a documentary following the journey of the Otago Infantry Regiment and Mounted Rifles 1914-1919.

The story of the men from Southland and Otago that made up the Otago Infantry Regiment and Mounted Rifles in the First World War is a diverse tale of courage and tragedy traversing three continents and spanning over five years. The consequences of this story would be felt for many years after the conclusion of the war.

Sadly for today’s residents who live south of the Waitaki, it is a relatively unknown story. As the centennial of this incredible story approaches, Toitū Otago Settlers Museum believes it is the appropriate time to encapsulate this story in a docmentary which follows in the footsteps of Southland and Otago service personnel, sharing their story which should not be forgotten.

This documentary will then be screened in Toitū Otago Settlers Museum's 'Dunedin's Great War' exhibition, staged from 1 August 2014-3 May 2015, and then on permanent display in Toitū's 'Call to Arms' Military gallery.
