The Ongaonga District and the Waipawa and Districts Returned Services Association will be conducting its annual commemorative march and 100th Anzac Day Civic service on the 25th April 2015. Everyone is welcome to join in.
Time: 0830 – 1000 Hours
Location: Ongaonga Hall, Bridge Street, Ongaonga, Central Hawke’s Bay
Catafalque: Catafalque party, form up on Cenotaph no later than 0850 hours
Assembly: Formed up, ready to march to Cenotaph no later than 0845 hours
Parade: March to Cenotaph at 0850 step off down Bridge St to the Cenotaph
Civic Service: Approximately 0900 – 0945 in the Ongaonga Cenotaph grounds
Unveiling of plaque & dedication of Anzac Lone Pine planting ceremony
Members of the Ongaonga District and wider community will gather after the Civic Service to unveil a memorial plaque to mark the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landings on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey. This will be followed by a tree planting and dedication of Lone Pine tree descendant from the original "Lone Pine" in the memorial precinct by His Worship the Mayor, students of Ongaonga School and Simon Osborne (Able Seaman MTP2 Ret, RAN).
Morning tea after the Anzac Service
Everyone is invited to join together for morning tea at the Ongaonga Hall, Bridge Street, Ongaonga after the Anzac Day Commemorative Service.
