The Friends of St John's Trust have restored and repaired the Memorial Lych Gate at St John's Church in Trentham, Upper Hutt.

St John’s War Memorial Lychgate was erected in 1925 to commemorate those from Upper Hutt who were killed in the First World War. The memorial was used as the venue for Anzac Day parades until the city built its own memorial.
The Anglican Parish of Trentham recently had the gate and plaques restored with assistance from the Lotteries Commission, the Upper Hutt RSA and the Friends of St John’s Trentham Trust Board.
The Parish and RSA are holding a service at the gate this coming Anzac Day at 11am. The theme will be remembering the Battle of Passchendaele, 100 years ago this year, and to celebrate the restoration of the gates.
