Saluting the Sacrifice: A Centenary Remembrance of World War One

A student-based conference to be held at Christ's College, Canterbury, 9 May 2014; to help students understand the significance of the sacrifice made during the Great War.

Last Post on the Quad

Invited Christchurch school students will hear a range of guest speakers, including prominent historians, take part in practical activities, and taste food from the front.
Some issues that will be investigated include the use of artefacts to understand the legacy of a soldier; case-studies of soldiers, airmen and chaplains; photographs and remembrance.
The ultimate outcome is that students will gain a greater appreciation of the sacrifice and impact the Great War has made upon New Zealand society.
