NZ'S FIRST WORLD WAR CENTENARY 2014–2019

Tauranga to the Trenches - Tauranga 1918

'Tauranga 1918' is a reminder that as the First World War continued to rage, Tauranga residents could do nothing but grieve and carry on.

Tauranga 1918

'Tauranga 1918' is part of the 'From Tauranga to the Trenches' exhibition series. It explores our city 100 years ago and reveals that although Tauranga has grown in size, century old connections remain.

It is also a reminder that as the First World War continued to rage, Tauranga residents could do nothing but grieve and carry on.

As part of the exhibition, attendees can take away a copy of a special edition 1918 Bay of Plenty Times newspaper. The newspaper is a compilation of local news stories, editorials, letters and advertisements that were published between January and December 1918.

Head down to Masonic Park, Tauranga, between 9:30am and 3:30pm until Thursday 3 May to experience first hand what Tauranga was like in 1918.
