Honourable Armistice Day Art dedicated to Farmers who served in WWI

25 September 2018 - 11:33am -- Wendy Joy Baker

My Grandfather and Great Uncle, who were farmers, served in WWI. My Great Uncle was sadly K.I.A in The Battle of Passchendaele 1917.

My rural themed Armistice Day art, on bales, is a tribute to all the NZ Farmers who served in the Wars. (My farming Father served in WWII)

You will see I am wearing my WWI Ancestors medals in one photo and photos of them in another photo.

I encourage others to be innovative with their tributes to our War Heroes.

French show "L'Homme de Boue"

13 February 2018 - 4:41am -- Océane Pivoteau

A play, full of passion and dynamism created from real letters from the soldiers of the Great War

L'Homme de Boue, it's the story of the soldier, of all soldiers who have lived this terrible War, of these young men who left for an adventure that was much longer and disastrous than what one had been able to make them believe.

ANZAC in Tolo- Mission of Dr. Nikos Lygeros in Greece

14 August 2017 - 2:20am -- vbaklessi

On April 27th 1941 the battle in the area of Kaminaki-Lakka Tolo took place. There, the allied forces, among them being ANZAC soldiers, had victims which were sacrificed fighting for the liberty of Greece. And some of the fallen allies have been buried in this area according to testimonies of older Greek residents. But, presently, there is no monument anywhere which makes reference to these people. Testimonies say that they buried them beneath some olive trees that existed then and on each grave they had placed their helmet.

Commeorative Prints

7 August 2017 - 8:59pm -- David Bailey

I travelled all through France and Belgium in 2015 and 2016 photographing memorials cemetrys and battlefield sites. Along the way I covered a number of sites where New Zealand men and women served, in particular Polygon Wood and the Somme. I have started a business selling prints from those travels. But with a difference you include a family member in the print and I design it with you. I can be contacted at [email protected]. I have included a number of examples.

We are looking for funding support to help Taki Rua Productions stage a 3 city tour of All Our Sons by Witi Ihimaera to Wellington, Taranaki and Auckland in May - June 2018.

All Our Sons tells the story of the Māori Pioneer Battalion and its story in Gallipoli and the Western Front alongside the political ramifications of Māori attending the world war and the sacrifice of their sons lives for 'the price of NZ Citizenship'.

Populate AWMM Online Cenotaph Records

18 April 2017 - 11:29am -- Waipu Museum

Add and upload research, photos, multi-media etc on individuals who participated in WWI or any other conflict to their respective webpage on the Online Cenotaph. After curating an exhibition on Waipu's WWI servicemen we had collected volumes of research material, which we are currently uploading to the Online Cenotaph, but have noticed there are many others that have scant information about each of the service personnel.
