The Peace Poppy Project - Estuary Arts Centre

This project is part of the Peace Poppy Project aimed to engage as many people from our community as possible, to share stories of remembrance and how we can retain peace for now and into the future

Peace Poppies

The Peace Poppy Project, the creative vision of Cristina Beth, who in 2013 created an eye catching installation on the Titirangi roundabout of felt poppies. This project allows for participation on an individual level through to the greater community. The Peace Poppy Project aims to incorporate several ideas into practise. An important principal of this project is in taking the time to hand-make each poppy, to come together in groups to do this making. While doing so, stories are shared and connections formed.
Our community have busily been making 1000 felt poppies which will be installed outside the Estuary Arts Centre the week before Anzac Day. After Anzac Day the public are invited to take a poppy from the installation as a sing of remembrance. Any leftover poppies will be returned to the Peace Poppy Project for a proposed installation in 2018 in the Auckland Domain.
