The project aims to commemorate New Zealand’s First World War Centenary. We would like Wellington to have a best-of-world-class WWI Memorial Wall. A unique design will help to bring events of WWI back to life and will mark the significance of the war on New Zealand society. Not just our community will benefit from having this memorial wall, but we believe it will also help to attract more tourists and visitors. We do not want to make it just as a war memorial, we want it to make people think and feel what happened 100 yeas ago. The memorial wall be 10m length and 2.5m height. On its polished granite surface, people will see glass crystals with engraved 3-dimensional photos. Illuminated 3D photos of soldiers and/or their families as well as battle scenes will remind us and future generations that those soldiers sacrificed everything they had in the WWI. We are currently seeking public opinion on our project. Any comments, suggestions or informational support will be highly appreciated. Lest we forget.
